Developing Systemic, Long-Term Legal Remedies by Incorporating Two Generations As Part of the Solution

Research, demographics, and policy undergird use of the “two generation” approach. Its use by legal services lawyers to better understand and better formulate longer term, systemic legal solutions are more likely to significantly improve opportunities for success for clients by increasing inclusion of the clients’ informed individual support system and community resources through a sustained, longer term effort. By incorporating current, relevant research, experts, and other resources as part of their process for framing and proposing legal remedies for the courts (and others), legal services lawyers can play a significant role in structuring justice within the whole of our social contract.
