Alysson Snow, Senior Attorney, leads the Consumer Protection Division of the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, Inc.  Ms. Snow and her team provide free legal assistance and representation to low-income consumers.  To address the steady flood of debt defense cases, Ms. Snow designed and launched debt defense programs in San Diego County in collaboration with the local law libraries and the private bar.  Since 2011, these debt defense clinics have served as national models for other organizations seeking to provide assistance to pro se litigants.  The strategies and materials she has developed have been replicated and adapted by many other non-profits and legal services groups.  In addition to debt defense, LASSD provides direct legal assistance to a wide-range of consumer related issues, including assisting with bankruptcy, affirmative actions for violations of the state and federal Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and other consumer protection statutes, mortgage lending issues, student loans, mortgages, auto fraud, auto repair fraud, etc.
